What type of red lipstick would work best for me?

I have an olive Native American/Italian complexion with brown hair and dark brown eyes. Supposedly I can find out which red shade works best for me if I can determine what my skin undertones are, which I have a difficult time doing. Some sources say olive skin is warm, other sources say it's cool. The veins on the underside of my arm look green in the sunlight and blue everywhere else. The color of the pale part of my underarm looks different all the time too but in the sun it's I dunno...peach? Cream? Or is it yellow? Or blue?I don't know what a ';yellow'; undertone looks like and I certainly don't know what is meant by a ';blue'; undertone.What type of red lipstick would work best for me?
First of all, you only use how your skin (and the rest of your coloring) looks in natural sunlight. Other lights, like fluorescent lighting, can add false colors to the look of your skin.


If your veins look green in sunlight, then you are a warm. If you were a cool, they would look blue. Peach, yellow, and cream are all colors that are in the warm shades.


To find your real undertones-


Stand next to a window on a sunny day, drapes or blinds open. Hold a piece of white paper next to the underside of your wrist. Make sure room lights are off so you aren't casting other colors onto your skin. Does your skin look pink, blue, or rosy? Then you are a cool. Does your skin look peach, yellow, or golden? Then you are a warm. It will be obvious which color your inner wrist looks when compared to pure white.





For red lipstick with warm olive skin, look for mahogany, yellow-reds, or orange-reds. For cool olive skin, try blue-reds, burgundy, and brick reds. A brown-red has a neutral undertone, so it can be worn with either warm or cool coloring. If you still aren't sure, try coral or apricot reds that work well with both warm and cool undertones. Or a nude red that is light and sheer, instead of a bold color.


A good way to try shades on is to go to a makeup counter at a local store. They will allow you to test shades on your lips with a disposable brush or cotton swab, without having to buy. You can't rely on what looks good on the back of your hand, where many women test colors, since the skin is a different color than your face. The women behind the counter will be more than happy to help with suggestions and their opinions. It's best to wear neutral colored clothing (white, black, brown, etc...) to try on new makeup so you aren't casting unnatural colors onto your face.





Remember, when wearing red lipstick, the rest of your makeup should be light and neutral. Too many colors competing for attention can look gaudy, or even trashy. Don't foget that this applies to blush as well as eye makeup. Bright cheeks and a bold mouth look overdone. Smokey eyes and red lips are a hot look, but best kept for evening use.





And make sure your clothing colors complement your lips. Not all shades work well together. Hot pink, baby blue, and peach, for example, don't go with any shade of red lipstick. Don't mix cool clothing with warm makeup, or vice verse.What type of red lipstick would work best for me?
I have the same problem, i have dk. brown hair, brown eyes, and a pale complexion. The thing is, i have pink lips but peachy cheeks and everywhere else i'm pink, so i have no idea what to do. However, i do recommend Black Honey from Clinique. In the tube, it looks black, but it goes on a sheer rose, the more you put on the darker it gets, almost like a stain. So far, it has worked with every complexion, on my friends. It isn't a real red, but you can make it red by layering more and more on.
Sometimes we worry too much about things. But, I, too, have and olive complexion. And, strage this is- I have found that shades with a hint of orange really bring it out. Sun compliments grass. A hint or orange, for some reason, really makes your already beautiful complexion- radiate with a glow.
I wouldnt go with a rose red, you would look like a baby doll. I think that a good firecracker red would loook best.
look at your face and if it looks more pink or yellow (especially on your cheeks) then you can see if you're warm or cool.

Pink or sugar colored lipstick is good for ur tone.
People with an olive complexion usually have yellow/peachy undertones. I think that you should go to your local mall and go to the Prescriptives counter so they can do a color match. They custom blend founation and powder and they can also tell you what color palatte( for lips, eyes, cheek etc) works best for you.
