Red lipstick?

Any tips on buying a dark red lipstick. Any color I choose always ends up looking hot pinkish. I've got brown hair and blue eyes with an ivory complexion (with a fading tan). I don't want to look like a hooker, just want to try out a nice red color.Red lipstick?
With an ivory complexion, brownish-red lipstick would look more like a clay on your lips. Without knowing your undertones though, it's hard to say. Try using a 'clear' red like Certainly Red by Revlon (if they still make it, not sure) or a a 'blue-red' which is more of a deep blood red color.

Also, maybe it's the brand you're using. Red lipstick shouldn't turn out looking like hot pink unless you're using a sheer color and not realizing it. Try a matte or cream-based lipstick.

Brown does NOT compliment an ivory skin tone. First of all, it depends on undertones. You need to determine that first. Sometimes brownish colors do compliment ivory, but not often. Most times, it just looks like mud and can actually make you look older than you may want to.Red lipstick?
I got the perfect colors its Bee Luscious Cosmetics Liquid Lustre in the color Luscious its a beautiful wine color red. I love it..
Try a slightly lighter shade of lipstick.
If it goes pinky on you, choose a browny red. These look more natural (not hooker-esque) and will be very pretty with your skin tone. Almost all lines carry a brown based red, so just go to the drug store or department store and ask the person working there.
how about you try a in between redish and pink lipgloss and not lipstick...with your hair color and eye color and think a lip gloss would be safe...hope it would work
Go to the mac counter at your local mall and try different shades of red lipsticks or go to the site www.cosmetics.com and look at the colors maybe you'll find something hope this helps.
Try a more brown-red for the lipstick, it will compliment your skin tone.
I use Max Factor. There shades of red are great. I use them and they look RED, not pinkish or off in any way. I also have a Ivory complexion with a fading tan :)

Just buy a red maroon lipstick, don't choose strawberry / cherry red. Beware of what you wear for not mistaken as a hooker. There is not the lipstick problem, hooker wears pink too !
